Pre-Consultation Application

A Pre-Consultation Meeting with City staff is required prior to the submission of an application for:

  • Official Plan Amendment,
  • Zoning By-Law Amendment,
  • Site-Plan,
  • Plan of Subdivision,
  • Plan of Condominium.

The pre-consultation process allows the Applicant to present the Pre-Consultation Application and concept plans to the City and provides City staff the opportunity to:

  • Clarify the application process,
  • Identify key issues and provide preliminary written comment (circulated after the meeting),
  • Identify and confirm the necessary plans, supporting studies and any other information that would be required for a Complete Application at such time as formal submission is made.

Any technical comments made during the pre-consultation process are preliminary and subject to further circulation and review at the time of a complete development application. Pre-consultation does not imply or suggest any decision on behalf of City staff or the Corporation of the City of Peterborough. Participating in the pre-application consultation process does not allow for construction on the proposed development site.

To deem a Pre-Consultation Application complete, the following information is required:

  • Completed application form,
  • Five (5) metric scale drawings (61cm x 91cm) minimum size paper copies of the concept site plan with required detail (once requested),
  • One (1) digital copy in PDF format of all concept plans.

Pre-Consultation meetings will not be booked until sufficient information has been provided. Should additional information be required, staff will contact the applicant.

Pre-Consultation meetings are held every third Thursday and City staff will contact the applicant to arrange a date and time for the meeting based on availability.

A preliminary discussion or meeting with a City of Peterborough Planner is mandatory prior to submitting a Pre-Consultation Application.

Meeting and application submission dates 

Meeting dates are booked on a first received first booked basis. If the meeting date requested is already full, you may be required to select an alternative date.
