Northcrest Skating School - Information

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Welcome to the Northcrest Skating School.

Classes will start promptly at 12:15 pm, 1:15 pm and 2:15 pm. The classes are divided into coloured groups and will be monitored regularly by the instructors to advance to the next group.

Pink Level - The pink level is for brand new skaters. Parents with skaters in this group are welcome on the ice surface with their child on the first day only.

Parents that enter the ice surface must wear a CSA approved helmet.

Red, Blue, Yellow, Black, Orange and Green Levels - The skaters will be assessed and put into their appropriate colour group with qualified instructors. The last five minutes of the session is a free skate. Children may take this opportunity to have fun and practice what they have learned.

Helpful hints:

  • All participants (and parents) must wear a CSA approved helmet on the ice surface. Bicycle helmets are not acceptable.
  • It is extremely important that each skater has sharpened, proper fitting skates with skate guards (skate guards are to be removed before entering the ice surface).
  • Do not file off picks on your child's skates if they have them.
  • Name tags must be worn at every skate session.
  • Please ensure that your child is dressed warmly.
  • Please arrive on time, have skates properly laced waiting for your instructor.

Note: parents must remain at the arena for the entire lesson.

The last Sunday in each session is a fun day!

On behalf of the Recreation Division, Bonnie Lynn Porter and her instructional staff, we hope you will find this program enjoyable and a learning experience for your child. We welcome your comments and feedback.
